IKEA and other topics

It has been a couple of days since I have had the time or motivation to blog. The 4th of July is always a busy family day. Parade in the am, friends lake place in the afternoon and who could forget the fireworks at night. Eli has his favorites picked out (which is all of them!).

Today, we made a pilgrimage (of sorts) to the IKEA (swedish furniture store for those of you that don't know) in the city. This is always an adventure - and usually expensive so it does not happen very often. We have slowly begun getting rid of the pressed fiberboard desks - you know the type I am talking about! You can find them for free on the side of the road almost anywhere. They served us well for a season - before we could afford something a little nicer.

The first desk to be replaced was the girl's. She just needed some space to spread out her books, turn on some music and study - some place besides the breakfast bar in the kitchen!

Today's desk was the family computer desk. It wasn't a huge decision, but it can be fun to clean out the old and start fresh. We are now purging files - like, do you really need the directions to the 10 year old themostat? Questions, questions...

We also had the tasty swedish meatballs and gravy with baby red potatoes for lunch - yes, this place even has a cafeteria! I even picked up some of the gravy packets and plan on making them at home. Just grab the duct tape right now because it is all going to the hips since it is made with 1/2 cup of cream. (But that is why it tastes soooo good!).

Thanks for reading!
