"Busyness is not a spiritual gift."
From an interview with
~ Lisa Harper ~

I remember in college being reminded in our small group that we are human "beings", not human "doings". I was very busy in college - a different busy than I am now. I truly learned that my busyness was incredibly unhealthy! I was running - mostly away from my past and thus away from God - the One that could save me.

I heard this verse for the first time during a college retreat:

Psalm 46:10
10 "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

We practiced a day of silence - where we went off alone and meditated, prayed and wept in front of the Lord. This verse became real to me and I am often reminded of it when life seems out of control. I need to step back, be still and breath.

I pray that you may find time to be still and know God.
