Ancient Words

"Ancient Words, ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open hearts
O let the ancient words impart."

~ Lynn DeShazo~

Loni at Joy in the Morning is hosting this weeks in "other" words. What I truly love about the Ancient words of scripture is that you can read a story or parable by Jesus and always learn something new. The scripture is alive. God uses His Spirit to speak to us where we are.

My favorite story that comes up often in bible studies is when Peter walks on the water. I have found myself learning from the actions of Peter over and over again. When I was a new believer it was about trust. And the below verses were and inspiration.

Matt 14:28Peter said to Him, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water."

29And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

Then later in my walk that same scripture passage, I was learning about fears and struggles that would pull me away from God and I focused on these verses in that story instead.

Matt. 14:30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"

31Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"

I pray that we may continue to read and reread scripture and let it change us today!

Great passages! I also falter in my trust and let fear over take my faith in the Lord. Thank you for sharing these verses with me. I needed to hear them.
